What are the responsibilities of a Miss Amazing leadership team?

Simply put, a Miss Amazing leadership team is responsible for:
– Planning an annual Miss Amazing event in accordance with Miss Amazing Inc.’s standards
– Nurturing a loyal community of volunteers, donors, sponsors, and supporters in the event’s host city and throughout the state.
– Connecting its state representatives with service and leadership development opportunities throughout the year.

What are the responsibilities of a Miss Amazing state director?

The state director maintains the big-picture vision of the Miss Amazing program. He or she is responsible for:
– Completing all areas of training provided by Miss Amazing Inc.
– With input from the leadership team, developing a vision for the state program and a strategic plan to bring that vision to life.
– Guiding the leadership team to success. This includes being a superb delegator, communicator and motivator.
– Actively engaging with Miss Amazing’s nationwide team of program directors by attending monthly conference calls.

What qualities are you looking for in a Miss Amazing leadership team?

Every member of a Miss Amazing leadership team should bring unique qualifications and skill sets to the table. The weaknesses of one team member should be the strengths of another, making the group as a whole equipped to succeed in all areas of program development. Areas of program development include participant and volunteer recruitment, sponsorship sales, donor relations and fundraising, and PR and marketing.

What qualities are you looking for in a state director?

Miss Amazing is looking for state directors that have prior experience coordinating medium to large size events, fundraising, running a business or non-profit, and/or working with people with disabilities. State directors should be prompt and effective communicators, business-minded, and capable of balancing a busy schedule and delivering on deadlines. Optimistic, resilient, and innovative people work best as state directors. Experience working with Google Apps (Gmail, Calendar, Hangouts, Drive) is preferred.

How long does it take to plan a Miss Amazing event?

Miss Amazing events take 10-12 months to plan at least.

What amount is typically needed to fund a Miss Amazing event?

A leadership team should expect to raise at least $2500 to fund the event. However, a few factors determine the exact amount that a leadership team needs to raise:
In-kind donations. If the venue donates space, for example, the total cost of the event is significantly reduced.
Enrollment. On average, it costs $15 to provide awards for one participant. A program with more participants and volunteers costs more to coordinate.

How many participants and volunteers does Miss Amazing Inc. expect a leadership team to recruit?

Each leadership team should strive to recruit 100 participants and at least 150 volunteers. Achieving this goal may take 2-3 years. First-time events typically have 30-50 participants and 50-80 volunteers.

What does the national organization provide for state chapters?

Miss Amazing Inc. provides business cards and brochures to kick off promotion, a thorough training process, official brand assets, standardized documents, and a loyal support network. In short, a new leadership team does not have to reinvent the wheel.

Do Miss Amazing state chapters pay membership dues to the national organization?

State chapters contribute a set percentage of event proceeds to the national organization. These contributions enable the national organization to provide goods and services at-cost to the state chapters and helps Miss Amazing strengthen and expand on a national scale.

When I was 16, I found Miss Amazing and it gave me exactly what I needed at that time: a sense of purpose and a cause I could get behind. Six years later, it has given me so much more. No matter where life has taken me, I have always been able to fit Miss Amazing into the picture because of the passion I have for this organization.
